Starting in 1928, in the foothills of the Dolomite mountians of Italy, Narciso Delladio began hand crafting wooden clogs and leather boots for the lumberjacks and farmers of the nearby Fassa and Fiemme valleys. Narciso continued his craft through the 30’s and  40’s unitl the start of WWII.

After the War, as demand for his boots increased, additional workers were hired and his business, and fame, spread beyond the local foothills. Over the past 80 years, the reputation of the ‘Calzoleria Sportiva’ has grown such that La Sportiva is the market leader in both climbing and mountain boots.

Combining their passions for the mountains and the environment, La Sportiva’s small (150 employee) state of the art facility in Ziano di Fiemme (a small alpine village in the heart of the Dolomites) continues Narciso’s tradition of high quality, hand made footwear.

Always environmentally conscious, La Sportiva actually produces several styles of 100% non-leather (or Vegan) shoes – even the glue is 100% synthetic made without animal products.  In fact, the majority of La Sportiva’s mountain running® shoes are vegan, as are many of their mountain boots and some climbing shoes.  Simply look at the materials section of the shoe and if it does not say leather in the description then it can be classified as vegan.

La Sportiva also designs their shoes knowing that there are differences between a man’s and a woman’s foot. La Sportiva utilizes a range of fits specifically developed for the unique shape of a woman foot in order to offer maximum comfort.  Their women’s models have a wider forefoot to heel ratio compared to their men’s shoes and are narrower, straighter and lower cut heel and have less volume overall.
