Founded in 1932 in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin, the The Danner Shoe Manufacturing Company’s mission was to build a boot that would satisfy an expert. Starting with work boots for the logging industry, Danner has hand crafted boots for the military, law enforcement, hunting and outdoor recreation.
The reemergence of hiking, backpacking and mountain climbing in the 1960’s and 70’s led Danner’s to introduce the Mountain Trail Boot. Recognised by Backpacker Magazine as possibly being the most ideal hiking boot ever made – lightweight and comfortable, sturdy and flexible, and requiring only a short break-in time. Characteristics of every Danner hiking boot that would follow.
By 1979, Danner had patented a completely waterproof boot, using an innovative new fabric: Gore-Tex.
In 1992 – Danner’s innovative Airthotics arch support is awarded the APMA seal of acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association.
